The 2 CU students are healthy, Mamun’s skull transplant a month later

Two students who were seriously injured in the clash between Chittagong University (CU) students and locals are now recovering. The doctors concerned gave this information 19 days after their admission to the hospital. They also informed that they will be discharged from the hospital with the consent of the CU authorities.

The students are Mohammad Mamun Mia, a student of the Department of Sociology, and Imtiaz Ahmed Sayem, a master’s student in the Department of International Relations. Both were on life support and in the ICU. They are currently receiving treatment in a cabin.

Mamun was hit on the head with a sharp weapon. On the night of the incident, he underwent surgery at Park View Hospital in Chittagong city and his skull was removed and kept in a refrigerator. It will be replaced after a month.

In this regard, Park View Hospital’s neurosurgeon Md. Ismail Hossain said that Mamun is now almost recovered. He can be discharged now. His skull will be replaced after another month. On the other hand, Imtiaz is also much healthier now than before. He will be discharged after a few more days, the doctor also said.

On the same issue, the hospital’s managing director Dr. ATM Rezaul Karim said that Mamun will be released with the consent of the CU authorities. However, Imtiaz will be kept for a few more days. He said that both the students are quite healthy.

It is worth noting that on the night of August 31, there was a terrible clash between CU students and locals. More than 350 CU students were injured in this incident.
